Hi All!

Another day, another blog entry.

Things are crazy around here! We’re laying out the May issue, and already collecting submissions for the June issue - our last one for the school year. But no worries - we’ll be back in school in August and around town right after school starts up after summer break. If you want to help out with the paper over the summer, let me know!

The much anticipated Palm Beach International Film Festival gets underway this Thursday, and runs through April 16th. During this week, celebrities, national media, directors, filmmakers and many others associated with the film industry will be right here in PBC, debuting 140 films and projects. One of the many highlights, as always, is the Student Showcase of Films (SSOF), which has become one of the most prestigious competitions for Florida student filmmakers.

The juried statewide competition recognizes outstanding high school and college students in Florida by presenting over $25,000 in cash awards, prizes and scholarships. (Hey - that’s a lot of $$$$!!) For those interested in attending, The SSOF awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at Palm Beach Community College’s Lake Worth Campus, Duncan Theatre, at 10 AM. To see what schools and students in the area are entered into the competition, and for more information in general, check out pbfilm.com.

What’s neat about the Festival for us, is that we’ll get to interview some of the actors, writers and even directors who will be attending the Festival events this year, and you’ll get to ‘meet’ them in the June issue of Today’s Teen.

Hope you guys are enjoying your Spring Break. While you’re relaxing we’re still busy at work perfecting the new site. We do appreciate all of your compliments and suggestions, so please keep them coming, and please, get with the program and upload your stuff!!

Hi Everyone!

We have a winner in our teentube online video contest!

The Righteous Kings, a cool teen band located right here in Boca Raton was the first band to load their video(s), and the gang has won tickets to see the outrageous Say Anything concert this Thursday at Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale. To hear more about the Righteous Kings check them out at www.myspace.com/therighteouskingsmusic.

How about another contest?

The next video uploaded (and accepted) - any type, on teentube, will win four tickets to Anti-Flag on Saturday, April 26th, to be held at Revolution Live. The deadline for this contest is April 15th. Comedians, magicians, poets, singers - what are you waiting for? Load that video!

As for blogs, I’m so happy to see that Ilana and Max have joined the blog brigade. If you haven’t checked out their pages, please do so, and then get started on your own blog!

Another cool idea - Shop with Today’s Teen! Every week we’ll be adding new advertisers to this page, and if you shop through the links on our Today’s Teen page, we’ll get a tiny commission on any sale or activity that goes through. What a great way to support the site! And let’s be honest - we’re still pretty new - any help and support is very much appreciated!!

Please don’t forget to upload pictures for teenpix through the express yourself/submit your work page. I’d love to see what you’ve been up to, and I’m sure everyone else clicking on the page would like to take a peek, too.

If any of you have friends who are talented graphic artists, tell them to drop me a line, and we may give them a chance to work on some of our flyers for next year. It’s a great way to earn community service hours, while building up resumes at the same time. One rule: You gotta be responsible!

As far as what’s going on with me, well, I’m working on some new ideas for Today’s Teen, and the site, too. Also, I’ll be announcing a get-together soon for any writers interested in joining us for next year. I’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas for what you’d like to see in the paper, so please let me know through comments on my blog or through my address at publisher@teentubeonline.com.

Until next time,

Write On!

This is my first blog entry for Today’s Teen - can’t believe it’s taken me this long to get going, but that’s what happens when you spread yourself too thin and wear lots of hats! I’m a mom - to two teens - and I publish Today’s Teen, a newspaper written primarily by teens for teens, in South Florida. It’s available throughout schools in Palm Beach County, and online to everyone else. The paper accepts submissions through this website, or you can send material straight to me at publisher@teentubeonline.com. Just put Today’s Teen submission in the headline so I don’t delete you! Be sure to check out our past issues through the website.
